Match ratings: How did Pools' players rate at Tranmere?
The trip to Prenton Park brought to an end the worst season in Hartlepool United's history.
And it is a campaign that will hold very few good memories for Poolies, bar of course the way the club, the town and the fans came together as one to rally in Pools' hour of need.
On the pitch, put simply it's been awful.
But how did Pools sign off at Tranmere? Here's Liam Kennedy's take on the players' performance...
Scott Loach - Two outstanding stops, one either side of half-time aided Pools' cause. Another top show from the player of the year... 8
Liam Donnelly - Penalty was never in doubt. Cool and calm, as ever... 7
Louis Laing - A very shaky opening 45, got better as this one went on... 5
Carl Magnay - One or two occasions where he made a tackle then admired his own work. Apart from that, he was decent... 6
Blair Adams - A few niggly fouls and had to work hard to keep the potent Tranmere attack relatively quiet... 5
Nicky Featherstone - Got forward much more than we have ever seen in recent months.... 7
Lewis Hawkins - Better in midfield than at right-back, that is in absolutely no doubt... 6
Conor Newton - Bright opening. Faded after that... 6
Ryan Donaldson - Played in behind the striker and struggled to make much of an impact in an attacking sense... 5
Devante Rodney - A very quiet afternoon. Involved in little of note... 5
Jake Cassidy - His hold up play was not quite up to standard on the day. Cut a frustrated figure out there. Didn't stop his efforts, though - he never stopped... 6
Rhys Oates (for Rodney 60) - What a finish for Pools' second goal. Flicked expertly through the legs with his back to goal... 7
Josh Hawkes (for Donaldson 90) ...N/A
Scott Harrison (for Featherstone 90) ...N/A
