While Pools are without a midweek game, they are preparing for a trip to Dagenham this Saturday followed by Chesterfield’s visit to the Super 6 Stadium on Bank Holiday Monday.

“It is a long, old season and we will need the whole squad,” said Bates following his 2-1 win over Maidenhead United last weekend.

“It might be that we see a bit of rotation with us playing Saturday and Monday.

“We have had no problems from any of the players.
“They are all champing at the bit to get in the side and those with the shirt are determined to keep it.

“Everyone needs to be ready - I said last week and the same applies this week.”

Players have spoken about the enjoyment in training and positive feel in the camp in recent weeks.

Bates says he is trying his best to keep things interesting on the training pitches of Peterlee.

“We try to demand hard work but make it enjoyable,” said the Pools boss.

“We have tried to tweak things in training, change the system, little things like that.

“We don’t just do things for the sake of it - there is always a meaning to it.

“The players have bought into it and I am happy with that.”

Pools’ Monday game with Chesterfield is a 3pm kick-off.
