Meet the coollest Teddy Bear on the planet - and he's from Hartlepool
Is this the coollest Teddy on the planet?
Meet MyBrian, the much-travelled bear who has seen it all on his travels with the junior section of the Hartlepool Stage Society.
He’s been to London for a West End theatre show, jetted to Broadway, and visited a radio station’s studio.
He’s met Olympic heroes, visited Italy and got likes on social media from fans of David Essex.
But he’s not afraid to do the hard miles either. He’s helped out at sponsored bag packs and with painting the scenery for forthcoming society shows.
He’s even got his own Instagram account. And among his many achievements, he has;
l Met Catherine Tate at the St James Theatre in London, for the final performance of Miss Atomic Bomb.
l Visited the Prince Edward theatre in London for the third preview of Aladdin.
l Met the star of Aladdin, Dean John-Wilson.
l Visited David Essex at the Dominion Theatre.
Sarah Barton, the musical director of Hartlepool Junior Stage Society, explained more about MyBrian.
“Members are awarded MyBrian the teddy on a weekly basis during rehearsals, and allowed to take him home for the week.
“They are then asked to document his adventures on his very own Instagram account, @mybrianontour
“For the past year, MyBrian has travelled around the world, including several trips to London, Italy and even New York.
“His posts have been liked by West End theatregoers, David Essex fans, and even members of the USA Olympic swimming team.”
But now, he’s helping out on a project closer to home. He is busy promoting the junior society’s latest show Seussical Jr, which is based on the stories of Dr Seuss.
Sarah said: “It features characters such as The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Thing 1&2, Mayzie LaBird, JoJo the Who and The Grinch.”
The show will be held at Hartlepool Sixth Form College on Friday, July 1, at 7pm, and Saturday, July 2, at 2pm.
Tickets costing £9 or £8 with concessions are available by calling 07882 576863.
More details on the society are also available at the junior society’s Facebook page.
