The Express & Star have claimed that Boro have rejected an offer from the Premier League side, who have become increasingly interested in the former Barcelona star in recent weeks.

Newcastle, Chelsea, PSG and Huddersfield have also been linked, but it seems that it's Wolves who are now leading the chase for the wideman.

Despite having picked up an injury in Boro's abandoned friendly with Sunderland, Wolves remain keen on a deal for Traore as they prepare for their first campaign back in the top flight.

But their first offer has been turned down by Boro, who are in no hurry to sell one of their prize assets.

The Spaniard has an £18m release clause in his contract but the report from the Midlands suggests that Wolves feel that such a figure is over-inflated and does not reflect his true value.

However, the Express & Star report that Traore is a 'top target' for Wolves this summer, so a second offer may be forthcoming.
