The Bosnian midfielder enjoyed a fruitful spell with Boro last season, making 15 appearances as he helped Tony Pulis' side to the play-off semi-finals.

And Besic has now rejoined Middlesbrough on a season-long loan deal after a summer of speculation surrounding his future.

There were fears that Boro's hopes of landing Besic had faded when a permanent deal failed to be agreed before the August 9 deadline, while Leeds and Swansea were also linked with moves for the midfielder.

But another loan move for the Everton man has now been finalised, with Besic teaming-up with Boro ahead of their visit to West Brom tomorrow evening.

A Middlesbrough club statement read: "Tony Pulis has made no secret of his admiration for the player and is delighted to secure his signature for the duration of the current season.

"The 25-year-old, who had attracted interest from a number of clubs, completed the formalities of his move on Thursday."
