A blue tide of charity runners will once again grace Hartlepool’s seafront next year.
A date has been set for the 2016 Miles for Men run and would-be entrants can already book their starting place.
The weather let us down a little last year but we thank everyone who came along and supported us. With the country the way it is and money tight for many people, they still gave their hard-earned cash to us and we appreciate that.Michael Day
Next year’s event will be held on Sunday, July 31 and has again been lined up to start and finish at The Domes in Seaton Carew.
Runners will set off at 1pm and organisers are hoping even more people will take part in the five kilometre event and beat the 2015 total of more than 300 runners.
Miles for Men founder Michael Day said: “The weather let us down a little this year but we thank everyone who came along and supported us.
“With the country the way it is and money tight for many people, they still gave their hard-earned cash to us and we appreciate that.”
Entries are already being taken for the run. The fee is £10 for adults, £7.50 for six-to-17-year-olds and £5 for the under fives.
People can enter by visiting the Miles for Men website at http://www.milesformen.co.uk/ where they will be directed to the entry form.
Miles for Men started in April 2012 when its founder Michael Day decided to launch a fundraising project in tribute to his late father, Michael Day Senior who sadly lost his battle with throat cancer in 2007 aged 67.
Michael wanted to do something in memory of his father and suggested a sponsored run for men.
The first was held in August 2012 and has been an annual Hartlepool attraction ever since.
Organisers are hoping that the 2016 date will mean even more runners will register for the event which raises money for Cancer Research.
