Mischievous brothers recreate family bath photo '“ 20 years on

Siblings Aaron, Nathan and Eldon Myers, aged 27, 22 and 20 respectively, came up with the idea to celebrate parents Andrew and Julie’s 30-year wedding anniversary.

The recreation was the brainchild of youngest brother Eldon, who faced the most embarrassing pose as he sat with his legs akimbo – only sparing his blushes with a loofah.

The brothers had been photographed in a similar pose 20 years earlier at their parents’ home in Hartlepool.

Aaron, who works in off-shore rigging, said: “We have often been known to be up to mischief and we do have a bit of a reputation for being wallies, in the nicest use of the word.

“Eldon had said for a while that he wanted to recreate this funny photo of us as children but since we all work away a lot it took ages getting us all together for it. But it all fell perfectly for our parents’ anniversary.

“It’s quite an embarrassing picture, but thankfully I was not at the front so I wasn’t so bothered about it.

“I would have been much less eager about it if I was the one at the front with my legs open like that. Eldon took it in his stride though.

“Dad thought it was wrong that we were even attempting to all get in the bath together at first, but he saw the funny side once he saw the picture.

“I actually am old enough to remember us all bathing together like that.

“I don’t remember the specific picture being taken but I remember it was what we used to do.”

Eldon had hoped they could enter their photo for a ‘before and after’ picture competition, but they missed the deadline.

The trio went up to the bathroom, leaving their girlfriends, mum and dad and other family members downstairs and a cousin took the photo.

Eldon, who works in the navy, said: “You see all these before and after pictures out there but they are never really that funny. We wanted to do one that really caught people’s attention.

“It was unfortunate that I was the youngest and therefore had to take on the pose that I did – it’s not very forgiving but I didn’t mind. We’re all rugby lads so we’re used to that kind of thing.

“It was a bit weird us all grown up snuggling into the bath naked together but thankfully it wasn’t for very long.

“My mum thought it was hilarious how much we managed to get the facial features right from the original photo.”

Nathan, who works as a plant inspector, said: “I was in the unfortunate position of being wedged between the other two. I was just hoping no one weed on me.

“We were probably in the bath for about five minutes trying to get the angle right and the look but we were doing it blind as no one else was there yet so we were lucky it came out the way it did.

“It certainly made everyone’s day when they saw it.

“We do have a reputation for mischief makers but I’m not sure what other stories are suitable to repeat.”
