“This new building will allow the business to develop and grow to meets the needs of an ever expanding market place.

“There is a UK wide need for a fibre sort plant dedicated to creating high quality recycled paper which is what we have designed to build in Hartlepool, this system is state of the art and the first of its kind in the UK.

“The contract for Hartlepool will be further reaching for the local economy as we anticipate council officials visiting to view the facility and possibly change the way we collect our recycled papers from across the UK.

“There will also be the potential haulage contracts for the local haulage companies to bid for, again returning much needed funds back into the North East economy.”

The sole purpose of the plant would be to remove packaging board and contaminants from de ink fibre.

This will then be used to create high quality recycled paper.

The project is backed with a 10 year contract to supply Palm Paper in Kings Lynn with up to 150,000 tonnes per annum

The site is currently industrial land and the proposed new portal frame building would take up  5075 sq. metres.

Plans will also include refurbishing the existing brick built offices located on site, and bringing in new electrics, I.T, plumbing and more.

Bosses at Ward Recycling said the building is structurally sound, however has fallen to disrepair due to vandalism.

If proposals were given the go-ahead there would be 20 car parking spaces and 19 spaces for HGVs created, as well as a cycle shelter.

A decision will be made on the proposals in the coming months by Hartlepool Borough Council planning department.
