More bands are ready to rock at Seaton

And organisers of the ticket-only Seaton Rock – on Saturday, July 1 – have revealed their hopes of making the event an annual one.

The new names on the band list for this year’s festival are Central Parade from Shildon, Fire Lady Luck from Sunderland, and King Mojo from Middlesbrough.

The Mail revealed earlier this month that the headline acts would be Cast, The Strypes and a third well-known act, which is still to be announced.

An official statement from the festival organisers said: “This is the first year and is being organised by Ian Young, with help from John Rogers and Joanne Winter.

“They are hoping to make it an annual event, bringing many visitors from around the country to the area.

“This year’s event will see all profits donated to local cancer charities in Hartlepool.”

“Filling the afternoon slots and getting the crowd ready will be a number of local North East bands.

“There are various sponsorship and advertising opportunities for local and national businesses and they would urge them to jump on board and help make this event a massive success.”

The event will be held on the coach car park and former fairground site in Seaton Carew.

It starts at 11am on Saturday, July 1 and runs until 10pm.

Ian previously told the Hartlepool Mail that he was hoping the 11-hour festival would be the biggest event to hit Seaton for years.

He said he had been organising the event since the beginning of November last year and was hoping for 6,000 to 10,000 people.

Ian has organised full-day concerts before but on a smaller level.

He said: “When you look at the other events, they were pretty stressful but this is on a different scale.”

When asked why he has done it, Ian said: “It is about time we got something good back into Seaton.”

Ian works as a delivery driver. The 48-year-old uses every spare moment he has to organise charity events.

The event is subject to appropriate licences being granted.

Early bird tickets are on sale now until March 21 and they cost £20 per adult.
