HARTLEPOOL United fans are being urged to snap up the final few tickets for an anniversary event celebrating the club reaching the League One play-off final 10 years ago.

After rounding up the final ticket sales, organisers have managed to secure three more tables - totalling 30 seats - for the reunion night at the town’s Borough Hall, on the Headland, on Saturday, May 16, and will include a pie and peas supper, top comedian, auction and raffle.

Back in May 2005, Pools were within eight minutes of securing promotion to the Championship as they led Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

Sadly, the dream slipped away and Pools ended up losing 4-2 after extra time to break the hearts of thousands of supporters who had travelled down from the North-East.

Now, 10 years on and the squad is getting back together for a reunion bash which will help raise funds for patient care at the Hartlepool & District Hospice, in Wells Avenue.

The event was previously announced as a 500-strong sell out and organisers believe the additional seats will be quickly snapped up.

The night, which will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the club reaching the 2004-05 League One play-off final at Cardiff against Sheffield Wednesday, will reunite the likes of Micky Barron, Ritchie Humphreys, Adam Boyd, Mark Tinkler and Chris Westwood.

Phil Dunn, co-organiser, said “The ticket sales have gone incredibly well and we initially thought we would have to close the doors, but at a late stage these extra 3 tables have become available.

“It’s going to be a fantastic nostalgic night and the players are all buzzing about it.

“We’ve been speaking to the likes of Hugh Robertson, Gavin Strachan and Eifion Williams in the last few days and they are all attending too.

“In fact, we’ve got 20 of the squad that played in such an unforgettable campaign coming along, and they can’t wait to meet the fans and share their stories from that special time in Pools’ history.”

The tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis via Andy Wilson on 07760886715.
