Motorists warned of more roadworks in Hartlepool

Drivers are being warned work will be carried out on the southbound carriageway of the A689 in Hartlepool.

From 8pm on Friday to 4pm on Sunday the southbound carriageway will be closed between Sappers Corner and Greatham Back Road.

This it to enable one lane of the dual carriageway to be completely replaced.

Diversions will be in place for heavy goods vehicles. This will be via Seaton Lane, Brenda Road and the A178 Tees Road. For cars and other vehicles it will be through Greatham Village.

Brendon Colarossi, the Council’s Principal Projects Engineer, said: “This is another area where the road surface has become very worn and it’s essential that it is renewed.

“Once again, we are doing the work over the weekend to minimise disruption and will carry it out as quickly as possible.”
