POLICE have urged motorists to take care on the roads with widespread icy conditions in our region.
Motorists across East Durham, including Trimdon, experienced black ice causing minor bumps and delays for commuters heading to work.
Durham Police said they were aware of problems with black ice but said there has so far not been reports of any major incidents.
A spokeswoman for Durham Police said: “We would urge motorists to take care on the roads and be aware of the winter driving conditions.”

East Durham and Hartlepool was set for a cold but fairly sunny day after a frosty start and a risk of ice on untreated surfaces.
Temperatures will reach a high of 4C today before dipping to -2C overnight.
There will be a widespread sharp frost tonight with a risk again of ice on untreated roads and pavements.
Patchy freezing fog may also develop.
