Drivers are being warned to watch out for roadworks in Hartlepool.
Hartlepool Borough Council will be carrying out further essential resurfacing work on Powlett Road as part of the ongoing highway improvement scheme on that road.
We apologise for any inconvenience the work will causeSteven Abbey
The work is set to start from Monday and last for up to one week.
During this time, traffic will not be able to travel west along Powlett Road.
Access to properties and businesses in Powlett Road will be maintained at all times, but this will be via the Raby Road/Easington Road/Winterbottom Avenue end of Powlett Road because the Marina Way entrance to Powlett Road will be closed.
The Stagecoach Number4 bus service running east along Powlett Road will stop as usual, but the westbound service will not stop in Powlett Road.
May Street and Lancaster Road will be closed at their junction with Powlett Road.
Milbank Road will continue to remain closed at its junction with Powlett Road until the completion of the improvement scheme as a whole. In addition, the service road and sections of Milbank Road and Stonethwaite Close will be resurfaced.
Steven Abbey, the council’s Assistant Engineer, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience which the work will cause.
“We are continuing to do everything we can to minimise disruption to drivers and pedestrians.
“We aim to complete the resurfacing as quickly as possible and reopen the road to all traffic as soon as we can.”
The Powlett Road improvement scheme is being funded via the Tees Valley Bus Network Improvement Scheme.
