MPs’ claims released

THE latest release of Parliamentary expenses have revealed that four MPs who represent the Mail area claimed a total of £15,829.40 in two months last year.

Hartlepool MP Iain Wright claimed the least in September and October last year, £3,477.81.

The latest figures released by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority showed Mr Wright claimed for rent of his constituency office, a landline telephone, stationary and the hire of a photocopier.

Easington MP Grahame Morris claimed £4,199.71 including for accomodation and office rent, car travel and telephone costs.

Sedgefield MP Phil Wilson received £4,183.79 for items including accomodation and constituency office rent, telephone costs and travel.

Alex Cunningham, MP for Stockton North, which includes Billingham, claimed £3,968.09 on rent, travel and office furniture.

None of the four MPs had a claim rejected, but nationally there were 154 claims for expenses rejected, worth a total of £15,352.49.

Another £3,641,081.09 was paid out in legitimate claims to 622 MPs in September and October.
