Time is running out to get early-bird tickets for a popular music event which raises thousands of pounds for charity.

March Of The Mods is set to return next year featuring another impressive line-up of bands, acoustic acts and DJs who give up their time for free to raise vital cash.

To date, more than £500,000 has been raised nationally for various charities including The Teenage Cancer Trust.

While in Hartlepool, the March Of The Mods event has raised more than £60,000 so far, for causes including Gretton Court Alzheimer’s Day Centre and Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice.

The charitable event runs from Friday, March 16, to Sunday, March 18, 2018, will feature acts such as The Signatures Northern Soul band, The Harringtons, The Extra Specials and Magic Beans.

It is set to support a host of worthy causes, including The Great North Air Ambulance, Hartlepool Mind, Breast Cancer, North Tees Hospital and Help For Heroes.

One of the organisers, Kevin McGuire, said early-bird tickets are still available, but urged those wanting to come along to get them now before it is too late.

He said: “The tickets have been selling really fast and we advise people to get their early-bird tickets before September 30, as they go to full price then.

“Traditionally ‘Mod’ has always been associated with scooters, but absolutely anyone is welcome to attend.

“We have three rooms of live music and DJs playing everything from Motown, R ‘n’ B, Britpop, 60s, reggae, ska and punk, as well as bands like Stereophonics, Libertines and Ocean Colour Scene.

“It will be compered by Les Watts, who has been instrumental in making the event the success that it is.

“The Friday will be ‘Punk On Friday’ and we have three of the best punk tribute bands in the UK – Rotten Johnny & The Anarchists (Sex Pistols tribute), The Clashed (Clash tribute) and Rigid Digits (Stiff Little Fingers tribute).

“Plus DJs Graham Dale, Mick Hanley, Andy Precious, Ian Young and Tim Burr.

“Then the Saturday is the main event featuring the best bands, DJs and acoustic acts around.

“The Sunday is Sunday Soul at Hartlepool Rovers Rugby Club, where some of the best Northern Soul DJs in the region will be playing.”

The Friday and Saturday events will be held at The Staincliffe Hotel.
