AN elated mum is delighted with her start to 2015 – after her beautiful baby boy came into the world just after the turn of the year.

Baby Ashtyn-Jae Williams was born at 12.25am on New Year’s Day at the University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton.

The little bundle of joy, who was actually due on January 9, weighed 5lb and 7oz, and his mum, Yolande Williams, from Peterlee, is overjoyed.

The 38-year-old, who is also mum to Luke, 20, Abbey, 14, and Pacey, 12, said: “I did say it would be great to have a New Year’s Day baby but I never thought I would get one, and I certainly never planned for him to come on New Year’s Day.

“I’m just pleased it’s over to be honest, and that he is fine and healthy. It’s a really lovely start to the new year.

“He’s been absolutely brilliant so far, he’s just been sleeping peacefully.”

Yolande was taken into hospital on Tuesday after suffering from a complication with the waters around baby Ashtyn-Jae, and she was induced into labour.

Two days later he was born, just 25 minutes into the new year.

Yolande, a full-time mum, said: “The midwives have been fantastic and the birth went as well as it could.

“I’m absolutely shattered after it all though, and I’m looking forward to getting home with him.”
