A COLLEGE is extending its part-time creative courses with the start of new photography sessions.

The evening courses will be taught at East Durham College’s Peterlee Campus, in Willerby Grove.

The Level 1 course will run for three hours, one evening a week, for 10 weeks. It will cost £95, with the exam fee being paid by the college.

This will cover the basics of composition, digital photos and Photoshop. There are no formal entry requirements, making it ideal for beginners.

Students who complete the Level 1 course, or who may have a little more experience, can enrol on to the college’s Level 2 photography and digital imaging course.

The college’s director of creative industries at the college, Paul Wheatcroft, said: “Everyone takes photographs, be it with a mobile phone or a digital single lens reflex camera.

“So many of us post these images on to facebook and increasingly people like to make books and gifts using them.”
