THE managing director of Northeast Press (NEP) – owner of the Hartlepool Mail – is to take up a new role within parent company Johnston Press (JP).
Stuart Birkett, who has been with NEP for seven years, will be the new managing director of JP’s Scottish publishing unit from Monday.
The announcement was made by JP chief executive Ashley Highfield this week as part of a senior management shake-up.
Mr Birkett said: “I am incredibly proud of both the consistently ‘better than the rest’ results we’ve delivered in the North-East and privileged to work with such a great team.”
He will be replaced at NEP by Stephen Plews, currently MD of the JP North and East Yorkshire Publishing Unit, who starts on Monday.
