EIGHTY tattoo artists have signed up to support a brave dad’s fundraising event in memory of his wife and daughter.

Ian Richardson, 40, from Billingham, has announced details for the North East Tattoo Expo from Saturday, June 14 to Sunday, June 15.

It will be held at The Arc in Dovecot Street in Stockton, and will include 80 artists over five storeys of the building, entertainment and an auction to raise money for the Jo and Mya Memorial Fund.

The fund was set up in memory of Ian’s wife Joanne, 40, and daughter Mya, six, who died in August 2010 in a car accident.

The event has special significance for Ian, as Mya had written him a special note not long before the accident.

It told how she loved her daddy “more than anything”.

Ian, who works in Hartlepool, said: “I had my first tattoo immediately after the accident with the message from Mya.”

This is the third tattoo convention for the fund and he said: “We are building it up.

“They have been fantastic for the charity before and the feedback from the artists is that they have loved it.”

The expo will run from 11am each day. For more details, visit the memorial fund’s Facebook page.
