North East weather a mixed bag this bank holiday weekend

Bank holiday makers face a mixed bag of weather this weekend - with everything from fog to rain and sunny spells and everything in between.

Starting off pretty miserable today, the weather is forecast to brighten up going into the weekend, while remaining fairly cold.

The Met Office forecast for the North East tells a story of a cloudy Thursday, that is dull and feeling cool with drizzly rain.

There is said to be fog on higher ground, with outbreaks of rain or drizzle, but becoming mainly dry later.

The temperature will feeling cool in the light easterly winds, with a maximum temperature of 13°C.

Tonight will be largely dry through the evening and night with possible drizzle, mainly on hill, with a minimum temperature 7°C.

However thing do look brighter on Friday, after a misty start with fog patches. Much of the day will be dry with broken cloud and some sunny spells breaking through and light easterly winds.

We can look forward to a maximum temperature of 15°C to kick off the bank holiday weekend.

Saturday will see mainly dry weather, with variable cloud and sunny intervals, and it will be feeling warmer inland.

However, there is a risk of showers developing on Sunday, with possible rain later on Monday with strengthening northerly winds, and possible coastal mist.
