As the world's biggest garden wildlife survey prepares for its 2016 launch, we take a look at the region's favourite feathered friends.

The RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch will be held later this month on January 30 and January 31 - and the charity is encouraging you to take the great outdoors and keep your eyes peeled.

More than half a million people across the country are expected to participate in this year's effort to observe changes in numbers of birds using gardens in winter.

But which birds do you most like to see in your garden? Take a look at this list of the most popular garden birds in the North East, with figures provided from last year's Big Garden Birdwatch.
