PEOPLE struggling to make ends meet are being urged to take advantage of a debt advice and credit union service.
Hartlepool Citizens Advice Bureau, in Park Road, offers a “comprehensive” service to residents struggling with financial matters.
The Park Road-based bureau offers a drop-in service every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 9.30am and 3pm.
Joe Michna, manager of the bureau, said: “We offer a full and comprehensive debt advice service to local residents.
“I would urge people to come and talk to us if they are experiencing money worries and to report illegal lenders to the appropriate authorities.”

Meanwhile, residents can also contact the Hartlepool Credit Union, in Avenue Road, which is a non-profit -making financial co-operative offering a savings and loan service and a white goods service.
The credit union offers the opportunity for people to borrow money at low interest rates with no hidden fees or charges.
It exists solely to benefit its members and is available for anyone who lives or works in Hartlepool.
Anne McGrath, chairperson of Hartlepool Credit Union, said: “I would urge people to come to us first if they want a loan and our repayment rate is two per cent on a declining balance.
“We would much rather people come to us first before they get in trouble.
“But if they are in difficulty then we offer a range of services and support.”
