Cleveland Police received a call at 3.10am on Friday, November 15 that reported a break-in at Ye Olde Durham’s Social Club on St Aidan’s Street.

A man was seen leaving the premises on foot heading towards Oxford Road.

Officers arrested a 30-year-old man near the scene and he remains in police custody.

A charity box had been damaged and the money inside stolen.

Any witnesses should contact the police on 101.
