Oil spill attended by firefighters

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a large oil spill on a busy road.

Crews from Peterlee Fire Station were called to the town’s Yoden Road to deal with the leak from a Peugeot 307, on Saturday night..

The female driver called for help after initially thinking the engine had caught fire but when crews arrived they discovered a large leak coming from the engine.

The car was removed from the road and Durham County Council dealt with the oil spill at 6.37pm on Saturday.
