MORE than a dozen people have signed up for a challenge which could see themselves battle back to tip-top fitness.

The Hartlepool Mail launched the Weigh Forward competition three weeks ago in conjunction with Tavistock Leisure and personal trainer Steven Smith.

It attracted a massive response, and 13 people are about to embark on a journey which could well lead to a new healthier lifestyle.

The weight loss challenge will eventually see one person win a hotel stay and one-to-one personal training for two months.

And for one runner-up, a month’s supply of personal training is the fantastic offer.

We hoped to hear from at last eight people interested in losing weight but we got almost double the number.

And from this week, the chosen contestants will be meeting for the first time and getting to know Steven, the man who will help them on their journey of fitness discovery.

Adults of all ages have joined our initiative and we will be revealing them in the coming days. Each has a very personal reason for wanting to improve their lifestyles.

But in the meantime, Steven praised them for coming forward and described the response to the competition as “incredible.”

He added: “It is amazing that so many people have chosen to get involved and I will be doing everything I can to help them enjoy a better future.

“I am looking forward to meeting them and starting the Weigh Forward competition in earnest.”

As well as an exercise regime, each of our contestants will also be given nutrition advice so that their new lifestyle can be continued once the competition is over.

Make sure you buy the Hartlepool Mail to follow the stories of our contestants in the coming days.
