A top One Direction tribute act is coming to Hartlepool as part of efforts to raise £200,000 so a little boy can have pioneering surgery in America.
Supporters of four-year-old Finley Ingles, who has a rare type of brain tumour, are organising the night they hope will raise the roof and lots of cash.
The lads of One And Only Direction are coming to town for the show at Hartlepool Catholic Social Club, in Marlowe Road, Hartlepool.
It takes place on Saturday, September 10 and is being organised by local promoter Andy Husband.
He said: “I used to go to school with Finley’s dad and I previously organised a Dirty Dancing Meets Grease fundraiser for Finley at the Corporation Club.
“I am just trying to help out and any funds we can get the better.
“We are hoping for a good turnout and it promises to be a night to remember.
“When One And Only Direction played at the Borough Hall in December there was about 200 people there.”
Finley, who lives in Middlesbrough, was diagnosed with the tumour when he was 18 months old.
He suffers emotional and physical problems as a result, including up to 10 severe seizures 10 a day.
His family say his only hope is to undergo pioneering treatment in the USA but need to raise £200,000 to get him there.
Finley’s mum Kara Ingles, said: “We are hoping to raise money that will help get Finley to either Texas or Arizona, the two centres that can perform the procedure known as Laser Ablation, but both are extremely high cost, as it’s state of the art brain surgery. It’s potentially life-changing for Finley.”
Finley’s dad Stephen Atkinson works at Tata Steel in Hartlepool. Last month, around 30 co-workers family and friends raised around £4,000 by taking part in a sponsored walk in Hartlepool.
Tickets for the fundraising night are £10 available from www.andyhusbandpromotions.com or call 07429 338296.
