The festive spirit was out in force in support of the Sue Ryder shop in Hartlepool.

Shop manager Mandy Williamson, and volunteers David Crane and Jessica Lax, raised £111 in just two hours with the help of Hartlepool’s Mason and Gerald Martin Funeral Service who donated the use of their 1912 charity organ, which played a variety of wartime, music hall and traditional Christmas carol songs outside Middleton Grange shopping centre

“We couldn’t believe how generous people were being,” said Mandy,

“We thought that people may not have a lot of spare money leading up to Christmas, but we’re just so pleased that our efforts were rewarded.”

The store has plans to use the charity organ again in the summer.

Mandy and her team thanked Mason & Gerald Martin Funeral Service for supporting the fundraising event and the people of Hartlepool for their generosity.
