Outstanding candidates have been chosen to take part in a leadership camp thanks to a Hartlepool charity.

The Rotary Club of Hartlepool was so impressed with the calibre of students who came forward that they chose three to take part.

Lynne Humphries and fellow Rotarian Ron Best interviewed the candidates. The ones chosen for the District Rotary Youth Leadership camp were Danny Cooper, Jennifer Cope and Alice Relton.

They are all from year 10 at English Martyr’s School in Hartlepool.

Lynne said: “The Rotary Club of Hartlepool are delighted that the entrants from Hartlepool for the District 1030 Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) 2016 were of such a high standard that exceptionally this year we are sponsoring three candidates for the summer camp in Teesdale.”

The Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) is an intensive leadership training experience where young people aged 14 to 21 can develop their skills through problem-solving.

This year’s camp will be held from August 1 to August 5.

They also got the chance to lead teams whilst at the same time meeting the challenges and having fun as well as the opportunity for adventure.
