Panto proposal shock by Adam

A REAL-life Prince Charming wowed a pantomime audience by getting down on one knee and proposing to his stunned girlfriend.

Adam Musgrave – son of Hartlepool dance teacher Denise Tyzack – was delighted and relieved when his shocked girlfriend Danielle Ross said “I do” in front of around 500 people at The Town Hall Theatre, in Raby Road.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as romantic Adam, 27, got down on one knee on stage at the finale of Seaton Carew Academy of Dance’s Dick Whittington And His Cat show.

And as Danielle, 25, accepted the shock marriage proposal from her boyfriend of nine years, the audience and cast members broke out in rapturous applause.

Adam, who recently bought a house with Danielle, in Onyx Close, Seaton Carew, said: “I was nervous when I was trying to think of what I was going to say because I’m quite shy by nature.

“When I was on stage I was just thinking ‘this is it’!

“It actually went a lot better than I thought it was going to and everyone was cheering, it was brilliant.”

Adam, a Heerema materials storeman – has known Danielle since she started as a pupil at his mum’s dancing school aged two.

And the pair struck up a romance while working backstage on one of the annual pantomimes in 2004 and have been inseparable ever since.

As the lovebirds’ relationship has blossomed over the years, Adam says the subject of tying the knot has been brought up on several occasions but he has always told Danielle, who works in the nursery of St John Vianney’s School, in King Oswy Drive, that he would catch her unawares.

He added: “I think if I’d have taken her away somewhere she probably would have expected something and would have thought something was up.

“I’m quite quiet normally so I think the way I did it in the end definitely caught her by surprise because there’s no way she would ever have expected me to do anything like that!”

He added: “I think she deserved a big proposal, she’s been waiting a long time for it.

“It was the finale on Saturday night and the Dame always says a few words and then my mam goes on and says thank you to the team. Then my mam called me on stage and I said the pantomime gets better every year and then asked Danielle to come onto the stage. I got down on one knee, I had the ring and then I just asked her.

“I was relieved when she said yes. I expected her to cry and she did!”

Adam says the pair will get married in the near future but there are no definite dates or plans made as yet.
