POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a pensioner broke his leg when he was hit by a car in a supermarket car park.

The 84-year-old man suffered the injury at around noon on Sunday, October 13, in Morrisons car park on Clarence Road, Hartlepool.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “A Mitsubishi Colt was in collision with the pedestrian opposite the entrance to the store.

“The man was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees for treatment for a fracture to his leg.”

Any witnesses are asked to contact PC Bruce Thorpe, from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit, on the non-emergency 101 number, quoting reference number 181707.
