Hartlepool observed social distancing guidelines as dozens of military veterans and members of the public marked Remembrance Sunday.

A low-key ceremony organised by armed forces groups took place on Sunday, November 8, at the town’s Victory Square War Memorial.

Paul Allen, a former member of the First Battalion of the Light Infantry and the chairman of Hartlepool’s Durham Light Infantry group, gave a short address at the event and said afterwards: “I would like to say a big thank you and well done to all veterans and everyone in Hartlepool who attended our ceremony today.”

A short service involving armed forces representatives and Hartlepool Borough Council was also held at the memorial on Friday.
