The fantastic effort was co-ordinated by Wellfield’s Year 7 Most Able and Talented pupils.

Teacher Antony Pearson, Most Able and Talented Coordinator, said: “It’s terrible that there are children out there going hungry going into 2020.

“This is probably the most food we have collected in the three years we have been doing it.

“Our catchment area isn’t particularly affluent so it is just a brilliant effort.”
