An investigation has been launched into the cause of a car fire which spread to a property.

Country Durham and Darligton Fire and Rescue Service were called to the blaze near to Essington Way in Peterlee at 12.10am on Sunday, November 17.

The car fire had spread to a caravan and then to the exterior of a property.

Three engines from Seaham, Spennymoor and Durham, tackled the fire before leaving the scene at 12.39am.

The fire service has confirmed that there is an ongoing investigation establish the cause of the incident.

A fire service spokeswoman said: “We were called at 12:10am and three pumps attended.

“We left the scene at 12:39am.

“There is an ongoing investigation establish the cause.”
