We asked: “Do you think further action needs to be taken over online sellers flogging fake and dangerous toys?”

More than 130 people voted, with 92 per cent answering yes, and just eight per cent happy with things as they stand.

Dale McKenzie said: “The amount of fraud in this country is at epidemic levels and trading standards, the police and other authority bodies are just not interested in taking the problem seriously.”

And Michael Jones had some advice worth bearing in mind: “A little saying goes something like this,” he said.

“If something seems to good to be true, then it probably is.”

Jacqueline Barras wanted to see merchants play their part: “Some responsibility from buyers too,” she said. And she agreed: “If it’s too good to be true, it’s fake. Would never risk it with electrics or toys.”

Helen Hindhaugh asked: “Are the 8% that voted no the sellers?”

But Dave Calvert was in full-on Ebenezer Scrooge mode, all in favour of ‘decreasing the surplus population’.
