The superb people of Hartlepool have raised enough money for Noah Griffiths, 3, to enjoy a trip to the Disneyland resort in Paris.

His family are hoping the tumour near his brain won’t cost him his sight before he gets to enjoy the journey.

Noah’s mum Abbieleigh Griffiths was stunned when the target of £3,000 for the trip was reached – and then smashed as generous people took the total to £4,030.

Abbieleigh said: “I am so grateful I can’t put it in to words. It is unbelievable.”

But there is a big hurdle to overcome first. Noah has a grade 3 glioma tumour and must continue his chemotherapy on the tumour which is so close to his brain that it can’t be operated on.

Although he is receiving excellent treatment from North East doctors, no-one knows yet whether Noah will go blind.

Abbieleigh explained: “Noah has to go for a scan this month and we will know what is happening with his tumour, but he will not be able to travel until he is remission so it is still over a year until we can go to Disneyland.”

Noah is a huge fan of a certain superhero: “He is obsessed with Spiderman,” said Abbieleigh.

She and Noah’s dad Jamie Greenhow say they are hoping they can get him to Disneyland in time for a Marvel themed event in the summer of 2022.

But it all hinges on him being in remission.

Abbieleigh added: “It is unlikely he will lose his sight during chemo, but it could relapse and the tumour could start to grow again. There will always be a chance that he could lose his sight.

"No-one can tell us whether it will be next week or in 10 years and because there is that possibility, we want to get him there so he can see it. He deserves it as he has been so brave.”

As well as the fundraising battle to get him to Disneyland in Paris, Noah’s parents are planning a skydive at Peterlee on March 27 and it has also passed its fundraising target of £930. That fundraising total stands at £1,000.”

That money will go to the childhood cancer charity CLIC Sargent for the support it has given the family.

He has to have chemotherapy every Friday at the Royal Victoria Infirmary for 45 weeks.

The tests for the seizure also showed up an unrelated tumour which was on Noah’s brain.

But Noah has fought back and the people of Hartlepool have taken him to their hearts, raising more than £4,000 to help him have his dream trip.
