How Sunderland and Hartlepool train passengers can buy adult tickets for just 10p
Troubled rail firm Northern is launching a flash sale with adult tickets available for as little as 10p.
The offer – which also reduces child tickets to just 5p – will benefit travellers using its services from Sunderland, Seaham, Hartlepool, Seaton Carew and Billingham stations.
It begins on Tuesday, January 7, and covers advance tickets bought for journeys between January 13-February 14 and February 24-29.
More than 180,000 tickets will be available for travel between stations across its entire network.
Northern, which runs services in our area from Carlisle and Newcastle to Middlesbrough, is shortly expected to lose its franchise after repeated commuter complaints over punctuality and reliability.
Transport secretary Grant Shapps last week said “it is going to be brought to an end”.
The exact time for when the tickets will be released has still to be confirmed and for further details click here.
