BIG congratulations go to these pink ladies who raised hundreds of pounds in the fight against cancer.

The girls of all ages from Slimming World groups in Hartlepool took part in this year’s Race for Life at Seaton Carew.

And the 5km course proved no obstacle for one of the team’s oldest members at 83.

The sponsorship money collected by the Slimming World team has come to an impressive £600.

Nicci Moorhouse, Slimming World consultant and team developer, said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to the members of Slimming world Hartlepool who walked along Seaton sea front in the race for life in July.

“With them was one of our oldest members Jeanne at 83 years old.

“They raised £600 for Cancer Research UK.”

The Slimming World team, organised by Janice Bryson, were cheered around the course along Seaton promenade by their spouses and children.

Like most of the 1,500 female runners that day, many had been affected by cancer in some way and wanted to do their bit to aid vital research.

Race for Life’s events manager Anna Thompson of Cancer Research UK previously said: “It makes a massive difference when this sort of money comes in. The most important thing is the ladies making sure they get their money in but it is phenomenal that this amount of money has been raised.”

The Staincliffe Hotel at Seaton is one of many Slimming World meetings across Hartlepool.

It is on Thursdays at 9.30am and again from 5pm-7pm. For more details contact Linda on (01429) 289212.
