A POPULAR playground on wheels can carry on motoring thanks to a welcome donation by a town business.

Hartlepool Families First charity PlayBus received a generous £500 cash boost from local heating oil supplier, F Peart & Co.

The bus provides over 6,500 children of all ages and their families with the chance to play in a safe and friendly environment.

F Peart & Co, in Baltic Street, decided to help towards the running costs of the PlayBus, through their company charity scheme after being contacted by Hartlepool Families First manager Paul Thompson.

The charity is an existing customer of the company.

The money will help it to entertain children throughout Hartlepool and the surrounding villages of Dalton Piercy, Elwick, and Greatham.

Paul said: “Since it started over 20 years ago, the PlayBus is still as popular as ever with the local community.

“This kind donation will really assist with the ongoing expense of running the bus and travelling around the local area.

“We also support community events and the donation will help us to continue this work, as well as providing a fun service for children and families in the community.”

F Peart & Co launched its charitable bursary scheme last November to support local community groups, charities and sports teams who need a helping hand.

Laura Jackson, business manager at F Peart & Co, said: “The PlayBus is a great way for children in Hartlepool to play safely together and it was a pleasure to be able to support Hartlepool Families First with a donation.”
