Police hunt man with pepper spray who demanded walker handed over his dog

Police are hunting a man who threatened a man with pepper spray and demanded he hand over his dog in Hartlepool.

The attempted robbery took place at Hart Cemetery, on Hart Lane, at about 11.30am yesterday.

A 31-year-old man was out walking his dog when he was approached by a man with pepper spray, who demanded the dog was handed over.

However, the victim refused and managed to knock the pepper spray out of the suspect's hands, according to police, and the suspect then ran off towards the Hart Lane area.

The suspect is described as a white male, in his early 20s, of medium build with messy brown hair.
