This weekend will see the arrival of the Waterfront Festival in Hartlepool and a dispersal order will be put in place throughout the event, meaning that anyone behaving in an anti-social or disorderly manner can be banned from the area for up to 48 hours and can be arrested if they fail to comply.

Officers from Hartlepool Community Safety Team will hold a stall over the course of the three-day festival, offering advice on crime prevention and Operation Endurance, an operation aimed at targeting illegal off-road bikes.

Inspector Darren Bainbridge, from Hartlepool Community Safety Team, said: “The Waterfront Festival is a fun, family event which attracts lots of people.
“Please come along and say hello to officers and get some helpful advice from our team on crime prevention and much more. A dispersal order will be in place throughout the event which will help us maintain a fun environment for everyone. We hope to see you there!”

Cleveland Police’s Operation Endurance runs all year around and is a multi-agency crackdown on nuisance off-road bikers with organisations such as Cleveland Fire Brigade, local authorities and housing providers.

Police and Crime Commissioner Barry Coppinger says officers will be paying particular attention to the problem over the next two months after reports that Hartlepool residents continue to be plagued by problems.

The Waterfront Festival runs from 5pm to 10pm on Friday, from noon to 6pm on Saturday and from noon to 5pm on Sunday.
