Police investigage £30,000 tools raid

DETECTIVES are investigating a £30,000 raid at an engineering plant.

Peterlee CID are appealing for information following a burglary at CNK Civils, at Thornley Station Industrial Estate, in Shotton Colliery.

Police say raiders made off with equipment including circular saws, jigsaws, five Stihl saws, three generators, two chainsaws, a hedge trimmer and a power float.

A Mig welder, a grass cutter, a Vibro poker, a rotovator, a water pump, a power washer, a drain survey camera, a battery power pack booster, a JCB hydraulic braker, 110v transformers, a toolbox with spanners and several other items were also taken.

The incident is thought to have taken place in the early hours of Friday and was discovered around 6.30pm on the same day.

The owner had returned to the premises after he received a call from a neighbouring business saying the fire door was open.

The stolen tools have serial numbers and anyone being offered them for sale who has suspicions is asked to contact police.
