As yet no-one has been arrested in connection with the recovery of the plants which were discovered after fire crews were called to the street on Tuesday.
Officers were at the house - in Sandringham Road - for several hours following the discovery of the plants.
The police were on the scene from about 4.30pm on Tuesday and stayed for a number of hours. Officers were back at the terraced property again yesterday.
Part of the road was cordoned off during the police activity at the house.
A spokesman for Cleveland Police, said: “We have removed about 100 cannabis plants. No arrests have been made at this time and officers are continuing with their investigations.”
The find of the plants followed a fire in the same street on Tuesday afternoon.
Crews from Stranton Fire Station were called to Sandringham Road at about 4.10pm on Tuesday.
Firefighters taped off a section of the road while they dealt with the blaze at the terraced house.
There were two appliances attended the scene and the firefighters put a ladder up at the front of the house to access the canopy over the door.
A spokesman for Cleveland Fire Brigade said the householders were having the canopy roof re-felted when it caught fire.
The blaze itself is believed to have been minor and crews were on the scene for less than an hour extinguishing it.
