Police uncover suspected £400,000 cannabis farm in Hartlepool property

A suspected cannabis farm estimated to be worth more than £400,000 has been discovered in a property in Hartlepool.

Police discovered what they are calling a "large-scale industrial size" drugs at a property in Brougham Terrace, Hartlepool, after a call from a landlord about a possible break-in.

A total of 476 plants in various stages of growth were seized by officers, as well as electrical equipment used to grow the farm.

Officers are investigating and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Pc Simon Lowther from the neighbourhood policing team said: “This farm is a significant find, with plants grown across five rooms within the property.

"The electricity was being bypassed at the address and the wires and equipment meant that it was only a matter of time before it caused a fire.

“Our communities want us to work to tackle drugs on the streets, and we work on intelligence from local people to assist us in our operations. I would urge anyone who has information on drug dealing or drug use in their neighbourhood to contact us.”
