HARTLEPOOL United fans are hoping to have Happy Feet when they leave Crawley on Saturday.
An army of supporters is heading south dressed as penguins to support their team in the final game of the season.
It has become something of a tradition for Pools fans to don fancy dress for the last match, and this year 100 men and women will descend on the Broadfield Stadium as the South Pole birds.
Pools fans caught the imagination of the country when they hit Charlton Athletic as Smurfs at the end of last term.
Social media sites were awash with pictures and comments about Smurfs with ‘Hartlepool’ trending around the world at one stage as Pools fans did the club proud.
John Pearson, chief organiser of the fancy dress days out, said: “Funnily enough we were going to go as penguins last year but we changed our minds at the last minute so I’m looking forward to seeing what it looks like this year.
“It’s a bit more difficult this season because Crawley is a little more difficult to get to and that little bit further away but we still have well over 100 penguins in our group and hopefully other fans will join in too.
“At the end of the day it’s all just a bit of fun and the younger fans really enjoy it, which is what it’s all about really just to keep them interested In the Club and following the team.”
Hartlepool’s PA announcer Phil Dunn has already got in on the act and tweeted a picture of himself in his penguin costume.
It should be quite a sight on Saturday when he and his fellow Pools fans shuffle their way into the stadium.
