SUNDERLAND is set to welcome one of the world’s biggest music acts as pop sensation Rihanna has confirmed she will perform at the Stadium of Light in the summer of 2013 as part of her global tour.
The star’s huge worldwide Diamonds Tour will kick-off in North America before heading to Europe, stopping off in Wearside on Thursday, June 20, where the spectacular show will cap off the club’s summer music calendar.
Tickets for the show will go on sale from 9am on Tuesday, November 20, and demand is expected to be exceptionally high.
The 24-year old, who has sold over 25 million albums worldwide, burst onto the music scene in 2005 and has just released her seventh album, titled Unapologetic.
Sunderland AFC commercial director Gary Hutchinson said: “Rihanna is one of the most popular artists in the world at the moment so to be able to welcome her to the Sunderland is simply fantastic.

“It’s another great coup for the city, helping to seal our reputation as one of the biggest and best venues for live music in the country.”
The support act for the Stadium of Light show will be dance music sensation David Guetta.
