Radio Two editor Al Booth said: “The Friday Night is Music Night team welcome the chance to travel around the country, bringing the world’s longest running live music programme to all corners of the UK, and we’re looking forward to bringing a jam-packed evening of musical entertainment to Teesside.

"I hope the people who live in and around Billingham will come along and enjoy the Big Band Bonanza.”

Among those set to perform are jazz legend Madeleine Bell and British singer and pianist Anthony Strong.

The show will be filled with the country's leading jazz talent, while the BBC Big Band will be conducted by Chris Egan.

Mr Stilgoe is regarded as one of the world's best singer-pianists, touring the world with his band as as a solo act.

He made his solo debut at the Edinburgh Fringe last summer, with his sell-out show - 'One Hour!' - earning much praise.

His second album, 'We Look To The Stars', was released earlier this year, and went straight to the top of the jazz charts.
