HARTLEPOOL has a new addition to its restaurant scene.
Portals Place has opened its doors at a prime spot on Hartlepool Marina – in the venue that was formerly home to Krimo’s.
Portals Place is described by its owners as a “Mediterranean -inspired restaurant” which offers a “refreshing alternative to local diners.”
Local chef Tony Ampleford saw an opportunity in the market to open a new, contemporary restaurant as well as the chance to realise a lifelong dream.
He has more than ten years’ experience working as a head chef, including the last six years being based at Maximo’s in Castle Eden.
He said he has “both the industry knowledge and customer insight to deliver a restaurant experience that will make diners want to return again and again”.
He added: “The reputation and legacy of Krimo’s is well known throughout Hartlepool, and with Portals Place we plan to build on this, offering customers an excellent dining experience and maintaining the high standard of quality and service that Krimo is famous for.”
As well as the restaurant, Portals Place will open a lounge bar for people wanting pre or post-dinner drinks.
Bosses also plan to offer live music during weekends and holidays and, from early next year, it will offer mid-morning coffees and light lunches.
