Power lines work starts

A £15m project to renew overhead power lines in and around Hartlepool has began.

National Grid has completed the first phase of its multi-million pound scheme to secure energy supplies between Hartlepool and Murton, in County Durham.

The investment will ensure that homes in the town and across the country have the power they need.

So far, wires running between 23 pylons on one side of the line which runs from the Hartmoor substation to Cowpen Bewley have been replaced and the work is expected to be completed by mid-May next year.
