SHOPPERS are being urged to back a charity fundraising drive.

Bonmarche in Hartlepool is giving away unwanted Christmas presents to raise money for Macmillan.

The clothing store is running a tombola at its branch in Middleton Grange Shopping Centre and shoppers are being invited to buy tickets and donate prizes.

Shop assisstant Elizabeth Ord is organising the tombola, she said: “People can donate anything however small it is, including shampoo and other toiletries.

“You can buy three tickets for £1 and all proceeds go to Macmillan, just call into the shop whether you are a regular customer or not.”

Bonmarche works with Macmillan Cancer Support all year round and this tombola is just the latest fundraising effort.

Elizabeth said: “People can bring stuff in all year round and there will be another tombola in the summer. Macmillan send us scratchcards which we sell in store and we join in with their coffee morning events.”
