The 38-year-old, from Sunderland, was one of around a dozen East Durham Homes entrants who were raising money in memory of colleague Joanne Lormor, who died in February after battling breast cancer.

Rhonda said: “It feels great to win. I’m going to do it every year now.”

Second placed female finisher was Hartlepool woman Laura Dollin, 29, who lives at Hartlepool Marina.

The support worker finished in 21 minutes and 50 seconds and said: “I am supporting people who have been affected by cancer.

“I have done the race before but this is the best position I have finished in.”

Third place went to Stephanie Skeet (left), 23, from Warrior Drive in Seaton Carew, who is as admin worker.

She raised £300 in two weeks and had trained every day for the race.
